Bad Michelle!

You can bet I am slapping my wrist on this one…. Since 2000 I have worked in the Internet Marketing industry.  My first related position was in a corporate communications role for a Domain Name and Internet Hosting company here in Canada.  I wrote weekly newsletters, did television and newspaper interviews, and wrote a few trade journal articles about the importance of securing your business name as a domain name.  At the time, I could not get my maiden name  MichelleRoy.com as an accessory designer in L.A. already had it.  When I married, I should have snapped up MichelleCollie.com.  Not wanting my own website, I didn’t.  A few years ago, I tried to get it and it was taken by a Michele Collie in Florida who is a real estate agent.  Yes, that is Michele with one L.  She’s a smart woman!  Maybe she read one of my articles on the importance of snapping up popular misspellings of your domain name!

For the past few years I have had a personal blog (hosted on a free website) and a business website (under a different name) but finally decided that the name we see in print (written by Michelle Collie) should finally have its own website.  After all, it is the easiest way to show prospective publishers my past work.

And since I didn’t follow my own advise 9 years ago (and 7 years ago since being married), I’ve ’settled’ for www.mcollie.com.  And I probably would not have admitted my mistake here except for two very obvious reasons

  1. I want you to learn from my mistake.
  2. You probably wondered why someone with my experience in online marketing is using mcollie.com as a domain instead of the more obvious michellecollie.com
